TRAVEL CLUB.

The Auckland Travel Club members spent a delightful morning on Friday, when Mr., and Mrs. Hayhoe, of Johannesburg, and:jHon. Mrs. Ralph Vane, of Wentworth'j Surrey, were guests of honour. Mrs. Harold KSng gave a short address on the poetry and music of the Maori people; illustrated by chants and songs and poi dances. Mrs. W. H. McKinney w&s the accompanist. Maori songs were also sung by Miss Rose Kennedy, and gramophone records, illustrating the Mapris'"gift for .part singing, were played. During the morning Mr. Hayhoe exhibited specimene of exquisite batik work and silver jewellery from Java. Other guests, of the morning were: Mrs. Edwards (London), Miss Wight (Honolulu), Miss Sowry (Yorkshire), Mi', and Mrs. Pears, Mr. Pears, jun, and Miss Kathleen Peare, of Wellington. Shoulder sprays of orchids and maidenhair ferns were presented to Hon. Mrs. Ralph Vane and Mrs. Hayhoe by the director, Mrs, Victor Macky, who welcomed the visitors,, and thanked Mrs. King and Miss Kennedy and Mrs. McKinney for contributions to the programme.
