ONEHUNGA ORPHANS.
A successful evening was enjoyed by members and visitors at the opening night of the Onehunga Orphans' Club. President L. Bray was supported by the presidents of the Auckland, Papakura and Tamaki Clubs, and in returning thanks for his re-election referred to the increased membership as a sign of returning prosperity and the faith of the members in the good will and fellowship engendered by orphandom. During the evening Secretary Osborne, who has held office since the inception of the club in 1920, was presented with a life member's badge. The club's orchestra, under Bro. H. Engel, scored marked success in all its numbers. The Balmoral Quartet, Messrs. F. Raisher and S. Harvey and Bro. E. V. Sutherland, gave very pleasing items, Messrs. Anderson and Watson a very neat acrobatic turn, and Bro. H. Engel a violin solo, "Souvenir," which was_ enthusiastically encored. The reminiscences and songs of Rusty Steel provided a good finish to an enjoyable evening. President Croft, of the Auckland Orphans' Club, replied on behalf of the visitors.
