TE AROHA HORSES.

MAZIR RESUMES WORK. KING BRIERLY SPELLING. Since returning ,from the , Egmont meeting Royal Secret has been on the easy list. The King Lu mare showed signs of slight lameness, and it is quite on the cards that she will not be able to race at the Auckland winter meeting. Rangi Thompson is making a good recovery from __ the effects of the fall he sustained at Ellerslie recently. He was in Te Aroha during the past week, but did no riding work, as through a shoulder injury he is not' quite ready for hurdling efforts. King Brierly is at present enjoying a respite from work. During the season he has been developing in conformation, and a spell will be beneficial to him. As a four-year-old next season he is expected to make good, as his galloping ability is unquestioned. The latest addition to J. Era's stable is the rising three-year-old filly by Musketoon —-Miss Amans, therefore a full aister to Lady Musk and a half-sister to Marble King. During the last few months she has furnished materially, and is now a typical thoroughbred in conformation. Her off foreleg is slightly turned inward, as in the case of Amnion Ra, but this is not likely to affect her galloping ability. She has already been allotted slow work on the local tracks. J. H. Wallace has lecornmissioned Mazir, and he now shows no signs of the ricked joint that put him out of action in February last. He is working well on the track and may have little difficulty in negotiating a middle distance in the coming season. Record Flight is being kept in easy work. He is not engaged at tlic Auckland winter meeting, as it was' deemed advisable to give him ample time to recover from the effects of two heavy falls he experienced at Avondale. King Flight is being wintered at Mana■\vnru by his owner, Mr. A. Hirst. This will allow the King Lit gelding to furnish, and ho will be put into work again in the early spring. Although he lfas not joined the local track workers. Desert Star .is being allotted light tasks in the vicinity. The Sandstiir gelding appears to be sound, and it is intended to school him over the jumps in the near future. In this department he should do well, as he has size and galloping ability. Some months ago Mr. R. B. Hines purchased the Paladin gelding Fei-Mah from Mr. M. <T. Moodabe. He is now doing light exercise preparatory to being put into work. lie is in nice condition, and should prove a worthy addition to the Mountain View stables, which as a rule only shelter the thoroughbreds foaled on the property. King Mestor is doing his share of schooling over the obstacles, and looks likely to prove adept at this branch of Tacing. If he takes kindly to the change and gallops as well as on the training ground, he may register some good -performances. Negotiations for the lease of Mustang have not yet licen finalised, and the rnv»i V"" K °K lin K 's it present being
