SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
A farewell evening, which took the form of a surprise party, woe tendered j to Mr. and Mrs. B. Lowe, of To Puke, ion Thursday evening. Games, competitions and music were enjoyed till a late hour. Much amusement was caused in guessing the identity of old photographs of those present, tho prize going to Mrs. O. Donovan. In the drawing competition Mrs. Downs and Mrs. Baker tied fur first place. All joined heartily in the community singing, with Mrs. Lowe j at the piano. An excellent supper was served by the organiser, Mrs. A. Watson. ■:;-♦*» A most enjoyable evening was held at the home of Mrs. Mullan, Malvcrn Rond, Narrow Neck, on Thursday evening. The function was promoted by Mesdames Ardley, Hill and Mullan in honour of tho approaching ' marriage of Miss Joyce Keely. The- evening was devoted to cards, dancing and the usual games. Miss Keely was the recipient of many gifts. The. winners of the ;iOO tournament were Mis. Wallace, Mm. Gully and Mr. Capper; bridge, Mr. S. Dickey, Mr. Gribbins and Mrs. Proctor. Among those present were: Mcsdnmes-Mullan, Anllev, Hill, Keely, Proctor. Carrington, Wallace Gibbons Hiuton, Waters. Griffith, Melho.se, Gully, O'Brien, Williamson Misses X. and M. Keely I. and .1. Ardley, N. and J. Mullan. P. and M. Hill, U. Williamson, B. Gun - , l>. Joynt, M. Agate, Copplestone, F. Wliit'lock, E, McCarthy, M. Burt, K. O'Biian.
