Mr. William Green, president of the American Federation of Labour, in a statement to a mass meeting of 50,000 workers in Madison Square Gardens, said that unless Labour's demands for a tAvo-year continuation of the N.R.A. and other legislation was met, organised Labour would down tools in a general strike. SHIPPING STOPPAGE. HOLD-UP AT VANCOUVER. (Received 2.30 p.m.) VANCOUVER, May 23. A general shipping stoppage at Vancouver is threatened with a strike of the Union Steam Ship Company seamen and freight handlers, cancelling scores of Empire Day excursions. The waterfront workers plan to stop work on Monday, supporting relief camp deserters, who refuse to return to the camps.
