(Received 12.30 p.m.) HONOLULU, May 23. Six United States Navy flyers were killed on Tuesday night when a big seaplane, 6PF, suddenly went into a spin and crashed into the ocean during the fleet manoeuvres in midPacific. This was reported by the commanding officers aboard the battleship Pennsylvania.

The accident occurred 50 miles south of Midway Island. The machine was responding to calls for help from another bomber, which had been forced down on the sea. It is presumed the OPF crashed at full speed into the ocean. Only small pieces of wreckage have been locatcd. PURCHASE "OLD BUS." REQUEST TO COMMONWEALTH. (Received 9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The Federal executive of the Returned Soldiers and Sailors' League lias decided to ask the Commonwealth Government to purchase the monoplane Southern Cross for the National Museum at Canberra.
