Recent pifts of Maori implements to the Auckland War Memorial Museum Include three wooden kninarn weeders, a fern pounder and stone adzes found at Parapara, near Awanui. an 1 presented by .Master Micky Sheerun. Bone implements, iid/.e.s antl polisliers found on the sandhills at The Mount, Tailranga, have been presented by Mr. Scott, of Tauranga. A stone adze found at Mauitiaina, Panm lire, has been given by Mr. Ci. R. Brookes, of Auckland.
An Interesting pyrites stalactite has been presented to the geological ecction by Mr. A. G Luiin. It was found in a Hiktiraugi coal mine and had been formed by water charged with iron passing through the coal and combining with the iron mid sulphide to form pyrites, lii the course of countless ages stalactites wore formed .bunging from the cosil eeame. It ie n greyish glistening substance flecked with brassy specks. Mr. A. Ti Pycroft luir given a s;\ci* men of jasperiaed agate, a form of petrified \v,oocl.
A riire black end (epinepiielas) caught In the Haui'aki Gulf ha« been presented l>y Mr. J. Shirley, of Brown's Bay. Several «ir,:<!l land snails found on the mountain topi round Nelson have been presented by Mr. F. W. Allan ami Mrs. W. Mount.
