TRACK GALLOPS.

WORK AT ELLERSLIE.

SEVERAL HORSES SCHOOL. VERDEN TRIED OVER STEEPLES. Perfect weather prevailed for training work at Ellerslie this morning, and there Was a fair amount of galloping. No. 2 grass was available, and the going was excellent. The sand and tan tracks were also in demand for pace work. The steeplechase course was open, and a number of horses were schooled over hurdles in the centre.

No. 2 Grass. Versant was the first out, and after running his first two furlongs in 255, completed live furlongs in 1.4 3-5. He was doing it nicely at the finish. Thespis was aliotted a round, but did not have a great ileal of pace on, covering the last Sfeven furlongs iu 1.4-1 2-5, and the final half-mile in M i-iia. This horse is looking in first rate condition. Air Lassie ran her first furlong in 13 2-os, and got to the end of four furlongs in 5:25. She carried a solid weight, and did her work 111 good style. Tybalt, after running his first two furlongs in 27 3-j.s. was timed to complete five furlongs in 1.8 1-5. On Parade impressed more than Teddy Boy at the conclusion of five furlongs, which occupied 1.0 2-5. On Parade looks better than he has done for some time past. Wee Pat finished up a useful task by running her last six furlongs in 1.24 4-5. Seabroney, tin , Kilbroney— Tepapapa filly iu J. Kemp's stable, ran home from the fivefurlong post in 1.7 2-5. She is showing 1 fair amount of promise for a novice. Volition and Black Marlin traversed six furlongs in 1.19 4-5, the first three being covered in 40 l-ss. There was little between them at the finish.

Chnrsoilg and Hunting Maid reeled off three furlongs in 37 2-oe. They iinislied together, and both shaped pleasingly. Psychologist, was too good for Radnor over six furlongs run in 1.17, the last half-mile taking 50 4-ss. Lord V.il worked alone over six furlongs, running the distance in 1.18 2-5. He went very evenly throughout, traversing the first three furlongs in 38 1-"*;. Rinnan Mascot ran the last three of lour furlongs in 38 4-oe. The stablemates Catoma ami Jewelled Girdle completed a mile iu 1.40 4-5. They were not unduly hustled. Lady Diana and Vera Acre linislied in front of Red Hawk at the end of half a mile in 4!) 4-ss, the first furlong taking 12 4-ss. Lady Diana impressed most. Green Patch was sent a round, and alter commencing slowly, ran his last seven furlongs in 1.41 1-5, and the final half-mile in s(i 2-08. The Valkyrian—Fabriquette filly was timed to run live furlongs iu 1.7. the last half-mile taking 525. King Musk put plenty of dash into a six-furlong task, which he traversed iu 1.10 1-5, the first three furlongs taking 38s. He was going well within himself at the end. Royal Broney and Mountain Bruce had plenty of pace oil when they jumped oil' at 'the half-mile post, and ran home in 51s, with Royal Broney a shade in front at the finish. Baroscope worked steadily over a round, but had no pace on till the last throe furlongs. ' which he covered in 38 3-ss. Kiitowyn. after running his first two furlongs in 2m, got to the end of six furlongs in 1.15 1-5. This was the best of the morning over the distance.

The Jumpers. Karangapai (Craddoek), Arabesque (Burgess), United (Kavanngh) and Cornerman (Simpson) were associated over nix hurdles,, the first-named pair, who jumped well, showing to ma-it advantage. United can:.: to grief at the third hurdle, but up to that etage he had been fencing well. I'arkliinst (Craddock) was schooled over the steeplechase fences on the flat, giving a safe display. He trotted round and repeated the performance. Billy Boy (Craddoek) and Verden (F. Thompson) were sent over a round of the steeplechase course, an,l got through theii task without mistake. They started at. the brush by the mile post, and Billy Boy, who ii'Hfl riving his stabiemalo a lead. wne about thirty lengths in front going up the hill, and held his advantage throughout. Verden wne-not bustled, and although he dwelt at each of the two fences on the hill he cleared the remaining fences on the Hat iu good style. Taken all round hi,-! display was quite a good one fop a beginner river country. Glenhau-po "t Craddock), Gold Rod I Wells) and IVAitagnan (Siiarkey) were sent over a couple of pony hurdles twice. They all gave satisfactory displays. Cargen (Rennie) cleared four hurdles in the centre. This is the first time he has been schooled for some months, and hit; display was highly satisfactory.
