HORSE BOLTS.

Trying to stop a bolting horse in Freeman's Bay on Saturday, Mr. James Duncan Court, aged 44, married, of SS. Ponsonby Road, suffered concussion and abrasions, and was taken by St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital in a fairly serious condition. His condition was reported to-day to bo improving. When the horse, drawing an Auckland City Council dray, bolted in Wellesley Street West, Mr. Court seized the reins and threw himself on to the near-side shaft. In this precarious position lie was carried at full gallop down Wellesley Street and along Halsey Street, where, near the corner of Fanshawc Street, the reins broke and Mr. Court fell heavily on the concrete road. The horse turned into Fanshawc Street, where, after evading several men, it was stopped. Knocked down by a motor car on Lincoln Road, near Brigham's Creek, shortly after 9 o'clock on Saturday night, Miss Ethne Mary Chitty, aged 23, daughter of Mr. C. ii. Chitty. of Kumeu, suffered concussion and a fractured ankle, and was taken by St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital. Her condition is regarded as fairly serious. Falling from a bicycle yesterday afternoon, Miss Jean Karloy, aged 18, of 20, Phillipps Street, City, suffered severe facial injuries, and was taken by St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital. Her condition is not regarded as serious.
