LAF3OUR PARTY CANDIDATE,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. There is a possibility that a further ballot will be held among members of the Labour party in the Chalmers electorate to select trie party's candidate for the seat at the general election.
When the ballots were originally conducted Messrs. N. H. Campbell and M. Connolly were the two nominees, and Mr. Campbell, who unsuccessfully contested the seat against Mr. A. E. Ansell at the last election, was selected. On his death the Labour party' decided that Air. Connolly should have the official endorsement. This decision has not proved popular with a section of the members at Port Chalmers, and they are petitioning for a r.ew ballot. Two new figures are now in the field for Labour honours. Thev are both residents of Port Chalmers, being Messrs. Archibald Campbell and Thomas Anderson. Air. Campbell is a brother of the late Air. N. H. Campbell and is secretary of the Waterside Workers' Union and one of the Port Chalmers representatives on the Otago Harbour Board.
