ARMCHAIRS.

Backs and arms of upholstered armchairs, which soon show wear, can be freshened considerably by the following treatment. First of all, rub well with a cloth dipped in petrol. Then take a piece of sponge or another cloth, wring out in very hot and soapy water, and rub the parts briskly with this, washing out the sponge frequently in the water. Next, wring out another cloth in clear water and wipe off all soap. Then let the chair dry thoroughly, if possible overnight. When perfectly dry heat some bran in the oven and rub it'well into the upholstery. When the -hairs look clean ami fresh brush out the bran with a -good stiff brush until no trace of it remains.
