SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
The dance social held'in the Mariurewa picture theatre last Wednesday night was well attended, a very happy evenin" resulting. Proceeds are to be devoted to the local Catholic Church • • • ■' Mrs. E. Taylor, of Sehvyn Avenue, Kohiinaraiiia, was hostess at a "Wanted on the Voyage" party given to Miss J. Fowler on the eve of her departure for Sydney. Trump whist was played, the winner being Mrs. Alan White, while Mrs. Hill received the ace of hearts prize. A competition, guessing the contents of the various parcels which the guest of honour received, caused plenty of fun. This was won by Mrs. F. Browne! Among those present were: Mesdames E, Taylor, Alan White, F. Browne, Hill, Weston, Stanton, Bird, McGhegan, V. Eady, E. Williams, Misses J. Fowler, e! Fowler, Beadle and Moffat. .• • • • The Catholic Women's Rooms were beautifully decorated on Thursday evening when a social gathering was given in honour of Mrs. Wilson Beer (Miss Isabel Heron), who is leaving Auckland to settle in North .Melbourne. The guest of honour wore a black silk velvet frock, studded with diamante. The farewell was organised by Mrs. L. Walker, over two hundred guests attending. Mrs. Walker wore a frock of , black ring velvet. Dancing and games, and an excellent musical programme by Mrs. M. Dreaver, Madame Veta Cornwall, Messrs. A. McVicar, Peter Dawson, Frank Cornwall and N. Connelly, was -enjoyed. Miss Alma Miller and Mr. A. Butler supplied the dance numbers, and Messrs. W. Connelly and A. acted as accompanists. An excellent slipper was served by Mrs. Spencer. ".."■'•
