FLOCK HOUSE TRAINING.
A parent's experience of Flock House may be of interest. I thought it would be a fine thing for my eldest boy, and accordingly wrote for particulars last year. The reply was to the effect that it was an eight months' course (this to cover all branches), and the cost, if I remember rightly, was in the vicinity of 15/ a week. After consultation it was .decided that the biggest objection was the short period of training, and, secondly, in view of the fact that boys could receive practical experience in return for their keep or a small wage, that, the cost was too high. The result is I am sending by son to the Technical College agricultural course for two years and then on to a farm. It means I shall be able to keep him with me until he is over sixteen, and he should then be more fitted to take up work away from home. Possibly many parents have come to the same conclusion.
