AKARANA'S CUP DAY. FIVE OTHER CLUB EVENTS. SECONDS SEPARATE WINNERS. Yacht racing was in full swing (Hiring the past week-end. AH finishes were close mid in some instances exciting, especially in the Akarana Club's race for 14-footers, where only 15s separated the first three boats in, each of them changing places in the last 150 yds. On the Manukau the senior club held championship races for the open, IS, 1G and 14-foot classes. Uere the finishes were also close, the same favourable conditions prevailing. Yesterday the Point Chevalier Club held a general handicap on the upper harbour, the Howick Sailing Club a race on a course from the wharf round a mark off Flat Maud and back, in which only T.s separated Mistral and Maratea, Mistral winning without her handicap of 2m. Thore was a steady northerly breeze, and the race between Mistral and Maratea was close all the way, Mistral finishing 5h ahead. . The Wakatefe Sailing Club held three races yesterday off Narrow Neck. The wind was very light in the afternoon, but the race for the Speedwell Cup in the morning was sailed in a steady sea breeze.
