On wickets that were heavy and some- ■ what erratic, following the preceding night's rain, the third series of city and suburban championship matches in the second round were played on Saturday at Victoria Park, the Domain being otherwise engaged. There was a good attendance, and in spite of conditions, the eontests provided considerable interest and some surprises. Manukau registered the best performance of the day with an innings against Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys which yielded 287 runs for full time. C. Williams, ably supported by N. Martin (53) delighted by scoring over a century. Mount Koskill, for whom Wood compiled 44, played hard for 124, and R.V. created somewhat of a late-stage sensation by a disastrous and unpromising reply, being dismissed for 49. Ponsonby fared even worse than E.V., being dismissed in their lirst innings for 51, and in their second for 57, Green Lane (113) winning the match outright in one day; Scores:—■ PONSONBY V.
