GALLOPS AT RICCARTON. FOEYD ORA'S tine effort. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day.' At Eiccarton this morning the galloping was done on No. 7 grass track, which was fast, while it is short, so good times were to be expected. A number of horses engaged at Treritham moved well. Cricket Bat covered six furlongs in 1.15. Copyist ran a similar distance in 1.18, doing it very easily, while Hororata did an easy three furlongs. Bella Rosa beat Dollar Prince over six furlongs in 1.16 3-5, but the latter would not gallop. Elbanor beat Earthquake over six fijrlongs in 1.14 2-5. .Argentic and Ranelagh finished strongly over nine furlongs in 1,54 2-5. Vintage ran seven furlongs comfortably ill 1.20. Davolo covered about seven furlongs, the last six in 1.14-3-5, Gold Cross bringing him home. Polydora, assisted by Scratchmere Scar over the last six furlongs, ran a mile in 1.39. It was a brilliant effort, and was done in great style. Penelope did useful work. Other smart gallops included Knockfifl and Gaysome, each doing 1.13 3-5 for sue furlongs, alone. Cricket Bat, Copyist, Hororata, Vintage, Elbanor, Davolo, Dollar Prince,' Polydora and Penelope leave to-night for Trentham. Some Shamble and Silver Sight will not make the trip, while C. McCarthy was uncertain this morning about Ranelagh, who is an acceptor for the North Canterbury meeting at Rangiora on Monday. The scratching of Madam Pompadour, General O'Duffy and Strong Light was due to the firstnamed pair being sore.
