BUSINESS BRIGHTENS UP. ALL CLASSES SELLING. Over tlie last 24 hours business on the Auckland Stock Exchange has livened up considerably, and a big list of sales covering many classes of securities has been recorded. "Values generally have been well maintained, although recent weakness in the banking section was exemplified in a sale of National Banks at £3 10/9, a drop of 3/3 since August. Amongst industrials a notable advance was made by Wilsons Cement, which sold 1/6 higher, at £1 14/, touching a new rccord since the scrip was marked down to 10/. The Noon Call. At the noon call sellers of Commercial Bank preference shares at £10 2/6 dropped out, with buyers still in at £9 10/0. Insurances were in brisk demand, and sellers of Nationals at £12/ declined to stay in. There were still buyers at £1 1/3. Standards were quoted between £3 9/ and £3 12/6. Recent strength of Australians was confirmed in a sale of Burns. Philp at £2 17/7%, a rise of 2/7%, with buyers left in at £2 17/, and no sellers. In the mining section Goleondas and Matakis were active. The former had sales at Sd and SVid, and more wanted at the higher figure, while Matakis were quoted from 2/8 to 2/9.
