OTAHUHU COUNCIL.
The Otahuhu Borough Council met last night, Mr. J. J. Graham, deputy-Mayor, presiding. Relief Works.—The Labour Department advised that a further grant of £I,>oo ha J been allocated for improvements at Sturgess Park, and £200 for Tamaki Estate. Display Cases. —The Auckland Museum Council offered the council a number of display cases for exhibition. The offer was accepted. Lease of Reserve. —The parks committed reported two tenders had been received for the lease of the recreation reserve. W. Burrill offered £8 per annum for 1 grazing sheen and cattle, and W. E. ' Lawes offered £10 8/ for grazing horses and cattle. As the committee did not I approve of horses in the reserve it recom- i mended W. Burrill's tender be accepted, i Mr. R. B. Todd took strong exception to the reservp being leased to a dealer in | stock, as it was of no advantage to the | borough. Mr. F. W. Grey, chairman of the parks committee, said they had the assurance of Mr. Bun-ill that every care 1 would be taken when driving the stock to I and from the reserve. Mr. Todd moved that the parks committee endeavour to 1 get a private grazier for sheep or cows, I even if the offer was lower. This was I carried on the casting vote of the | chairman. I
