OBITUARY.

MRS. G. L. FAGAN. ' The death occurred recently of Mrs. G. L. Pagan, of Drury, at the age of SI. Mrs. Fajam was born in Fifeshire, Scotland, and arrived in New Zealand at an early ago with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. (libb, and resided with them in Auckland, and later at Papakura, during the troublesome times of the Maori Wars. Her husband, Mr. W. Pagan, who predeceased licr in 101U, was well known j 011 tho Thanies-Coromandel goldlields, and was later engaged contracting for I tho Kauri Timber Company. At different times Mrs. Pagan resided at j Thames and Matamata, where she was a keen worker in church and social I welfare activities. The latter years of her life were spent at Drury with her daughter, Mrs. J. S. Doull. MR. GEORGE SWANSON. All early resident of Auckland, Mr. George fSwanson, • of Church Street, ! Devonport, died on October 10, at the! home of his daughter, Mrs. F. Story, of Puru, with whom he had been staying. He was a son of the late Hon. Wiiliam Swanson, and was born at Swanson 82 I years ago. He was educated at a school conducted by the late Dr. Kidd. After leaving school Mr. Swanson was with the hardware firm of T. and S. Morrin in Auckland, and subsequently was farming at Whatawhata. .Mrs. H. Hunt, of Devonport, is another daughter of Mr. Swanson. There are three grandchildren and one great-grandson. MRS. W. J. TRAFFORD. 1 Tho death occurred on October 12 of Mrs. Jessie Abbott Trafford, wife of Mr. W. J. Trafford, sheep farmer of Hangaroa. Mrs. Trafford, who died in her sleep, was born at Bay of Islands 59 years ago. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henrv Abbott Mair, and niece of the late Major VV. Mair and Captain G. Mair, who did such good service during the Maori War. Miss Mair was married in Clisbornc 2Q years ago, and her husband settled 011 a sheep station at Hangaroa. She is survived by her husband and the following children: —Messrs. Charles and Noel Trafford (Hangaroa), Mrs. T. J. Simmonds (Napier) and Miss May Trafford (Hangaroa).
