FATAL FALL.
TE AROHA CARPENTER AT WORK ON SCAFFOLDING. HEAD STRIKES CONCRETE. (Hj- Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE AROHA, this day. A fatal accident occurred last evening at the Te Aroha Dairy Company's .factory, tlio victim being Mr. Harry Christian Petersen, carpenter, aged 49, who was working for Mr. H, T. Clements, contractor, of Otahuhu, on an addition to the factory. Mr. Petersen was working about four o'clock with a youth named William. Wilson on scaffolding, when both fell to the ground. Wilson's fall was broken by timber which was projecting, but Mr. Petersen sustained severe concussion. Dr. Lawrence was called in, but the injured man died at 5.15 p.m. Mr. Petersen was an ex-president of the Bowling Club, a director of tlic Te Aroha Building Society and a member of various institutions. Ho bad been a resident of Te Aroha for over 20 years. An inquest was opened tbis morning before Mr. Xeville Ray, coroner. P. IT. Petersen, a sou. stated that bis father was a strong, healthy man. When be fell from the scaffolding his head struck the concrete floor. ITe was removed at once to hospital, where he died an hour later. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
