AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.

INVESTMENT STOCKS AND SHARES. COMPARISONS OF RECENT TRANSACTIONS. TO TUESDAY, JULY 10. The following table furnishes a guide to investors. It shows the trend of the market over twelve months for a comprehensive list of securities, at the same time indicating the latest movements, namely, from a week ago to the date of compilation. The rate of interest obtainable to present day purchasers is also presented, the calculations based on the latest dividends. Since hist review the market has been irregular. After active trading last week there was a cautious attitude when this week opened, and the tone of the market became quiet. Gilt-edged securities in the Government, local body and company debenture sections have strengthened, and there lias been an improvement in some industrial and commercial issues, notably Farmers' Trading and N.X. Breweries. Among bank shares the weakness which developed in June has deepened slightly, but insurance scrip has steadied. Mining shares have had a fair turnover, the principal change being an casing in Waihi. It will be noted from the figures quoted below that most stocks have shown an appreciable advance over the last twelve months, and as dividends have, generally speaking, not been raised, the interest return to present purchasers is correspondingly reduced.
