Asked this evening to comment on the Meat Board's action, Mr. Ja:iie<s •Bcgg, 3ta<*o representative on the board, said it was purely a precautionary measure. Negotiations between the board and the British, authorities were still in train, md it was difficult to foresee the out;ome, but the board confidently anti;ipated that the Dominion would have to submit to a quota with reduced exsorts. It would be wrong, therefore, For the board to allow produce to go into store at present when it might lever reach England. The local freezing industry is not immediately affected by the ban, as the Doneless veal season is ended, and the oobby calf season will not commence xntil the middle of August, '
