GOT THE KING'S VOTE.
BARE-KNUCKLE FIGHTER. LONDON, June 21. The King has come to the rescue of Alfred Mitchell, an old pugilist, whom he saw fight in ISSI, when he accompanied his father, the then Prince of Wales, to an exhibition of boxing. Mitchell later became the greatest bare-knuckle fighter of his generation and middle-weight champion of England. Ho made a fortune and became a hotelkeeper, but lost his money, and now, at the age of 75, wishes to enter the Victuallers' Benevolent Institution. He wrote to the King, asking for the latter's votes for that purpose, and despite the fact that the letter did not refer to the King's presence at the fight, His Majesty remembered his pleasure at the contest and allotted Mitchell all his votes, ensuring his election.
