FIRST PRESBYTERY.

EIGHTIETH ANNIVERSARY.

OTAGO CELEBRATION.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. The 80th anniversary of one of the most important ecclesiastical events in the history of Otago, the founding of the Dunedin Presbytery, is being celebrated to-day. It was on June 27, 1854, not quite six years after the first immigrant ships entered the harbour, that the Rev. Thomas Burns sat with the Rev. William Will, the Rev. William Baunerman, Captain William Cargill, and Messrs. John Allan and John Gibson McGlashan to constitute the first Presbytery of Otago and Southland.
