SHIPPING LOSSES.
GERMAN LINES* REMEDY. BERLIN, June 1. The depreciation of sterling, the fall in freight, rates in spite of increased trade, also the subsidised Italian and Japanese competition, have resulted in the German South African and Woermonn Lines losing £500,000. The companies intend to employ newer and faster steamers as a counter measure.
