WAIKERIA PRISONERS.

MOTOR CAR REMOVED.

Up till an early hour this afternoon police were still looking for the two prisoners, Bernard Charles Allan Cole, aged 30, and Frank Robert Baker, aged 21, who escaped«from the Waikeria Borstal Institution, near Te Awamutn, at daybreak on Tuesday morning. A motor car that disappeared front Mr. E. Bryant's farm at Arohena, several miles east of Waikeria, yesterday morning, is believed to have been taken by the escapees. The wheel marks were traced for about 20 miles, as far as Arapuni, but were then lost on the metal road. The missing car is a tourer model, painted light blue, and carrying the number 97-825. A report that the prisoners were believed to be in the Matamata district was. received this morning, and two prison officials were dispatched to the locality, but no trace was seen of the escapees. : When the men made their escape, one of them took with him a Bible. This was later found near where the motor car disappeared yesterday morning. Cole is Gft tall, of medium build, and has a fresh complexion,. fair hair and blue eyes. Baker is sft XOin tall, of strorfg build, with brown hair, fair complexion and grey eyes. When they escaped the men were wearing dungaree trousers and grey coats.
