MARLBOROUGH'S DROUGHT. MINISTER TO INSPECT FARMS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this (lay. In response to a telegram sent on Tuesday by Mr. E. F. Healy, M.P. for Wairau, the Minister of Lands, Hon. E. A. Ransom, arrived by the Tamaliine last evening to inspect the effects of the prolonged drought on the district and to discuss irrigation and stock water supply schemes. The Minister was welcomed on his arrival. He proceeds to-day to the Awatere district, while to-morrow will be devoted to the Wairau Plain. Last evening Mr. Ransom spent in informal discussion with the Progress League concerning water schemes it was

sponsoring. In his telegram to Mr. Ransom and tho Minister of Public Works, Hon. J. Bitclieuer, Mr. Healy emphasised the deplorable conditions in Marlborough resulting from practically four dry years, and urged the Ministers to visit the district immediately.
