JUBILEE CONVENTION CONTINUED,
On Monday, at the continuation of the convention, the following unions won jubilee white ribbon badges for increased membership: Te Awamutu, Arapohue, Levin, Flimmerton, Hawera, Northcote, Oneliunga, Bluff, New Brighton, Kaikorai and Island Bay. Mrs. Peryman was reappointed "White Ribbon" editor. The report of the Dominion Y. Conference, just concluded, was bx'ouglit before convention, which, in accepting the report, expressed its deep appreciation of the magnificent work of the Y's and the splendid training ground it was proving in training leaders. The Y membership stands at 1146. Mrs. Peryman and Airs. Brewer, of Wellington, were appointed W.C.T.U. delegates to the Pan-Pacific Conference committee meeting on March 31 in Wellington.
Mrs. Hiett, Dominion vice-president, presided on Monday night, when lepoits of Dominion superintendents of departments were considered. Mrs. Pirrett reported for the anti-gambling department, and Mrs. Bathgate for the Bands of Hope. Good work was being done in the Bible-in-Schools department. The department of good citizenship had been worked extensively, and women of the W.C.T.U. are found among the justices of the peace, on school committees, on councils, hospital auxiliaries, dental clinics, welfare work, unemployment relief committees, and in numerous ways contributing to the welfare of the citizens of the country. The Loyal Temperance Legion department showed marked increase in membership, the total now standing at 780, an increase of 198 upon last year. The cradle roll department, the report stated, had a membership of 10,074. Miss Henderson, for the legal and parliamentary department, reported upon this branch of work. Reports of other departments are proceeding.
ONEHUNGA BRANCH. The Onchunga branch of the W.C.T.U. held a home meeting in the Church of Christ Hall on Wednesday. Songs were o-iven by Miss B. Smith, Pastor Carpenter, recitation bv Mrs. Hodder, and a reading bv Mrs. Ashby. The accompanist was "Mrs. Hullctt. Pastor Carpenter spoke on "Homes and Tloino Life," and the importance of both to the family and to the nation.
