LUCKY ESCAPE.

MOTOR VAN CAPSIZES.

ROAD FILLING GIVES WAY.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.!

WARKWORTH, tliie day.

When passing a car in the Dome Valley about 5 p.m. yesterday a motor van, carrying eight members of the Methodist Mission Maori concert party, on their way to Wellsford, capsized. It is believed that the accident was caused through a portion of the road filling giving way.

The top of the van came to rest on a ledge below the level of the road, thus preventing the van from turning completely over and dropping 20 feet into the creek below.

The occupants escaped through a door window. Sister Pui Kirkland. who was in charge of the party, suffered a broken ankle, but the others escaped with bruises and shock.
