Business on the Auckland Stock Ex-< change again opened quietly, and only a few sales were recorded at the first call, j However, there was a slightly better lone in the banking section. Commercials were in demand at 18/1 and New Zealands , at £2 S/9. . . Timber shares were in fair request, and buyers for Kauris advanced their offers to 16/9. Colonial Sugars were a shade easier, being on offer at £65. In the mining section Waihis were again asked for at £1 9/10, Grand Junctions at 4/6, and King Solomons at 3/8. Government stocks were firm at late ■ rates. In the unlisted class buyers for Farmers' Freezing raised their offers to 16/6. Noon Call Quiet. But little business was done at the noon call, there being only one sale in the room. Quotations were largely on a level with this morning.
