ONEHUNGA FARMLANDS.
SOME VALUATIONS REDUCED;
The hearing of objections to the present valuations by the Assessment Court under the Urban Farms Rating Act was concluded at Onehunga yesterday afternoon. Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., presided, and associated with him were Mr. W. Lee Martin, representing the Government, and Mr. J. B. Wallis, the Onehunga Borough Council. Mr. H. A. Yockney, town clerk, appeared in support of the present valuations. Mr. G. McKendrick, for McKendrick Bros., admitted that their farm of 10 acres at Te Papapa was leased to Chinese gardeners at a rental of £2 per week. The owners paid the rates, amounting to £49 3/7 per annum. The present valuation of £1500 was sustained. Valuation of £750 each, on five acres owned by A. Mac Vicars and Christina Elder respectively, were also sustained. The following secured reductions: —T. G. P. Tregidga, five acres in Ncilson Street used as a market garden, £000 to £500; G. Tregidga, a garden of the same size in Church Street, £1150 to £850; Barnett Bros., dairymen, nine acres in Captain Springs Road, £SOO to £000.
