2LO CALLING.
FORMER 8.8.C. ANNOUNCER. FOUNDER OF INDIAN RADIO. A voice that used to be well known to radio listeners in England was heard on the Aorangi this morning when Captain C. C. N. Wallich, former announcer of 2LQ, London, arrived for a holiday visit. , Captain Wallich retired from the Imperial Army in 1922, and the following year, became director of programmes of the British Broadcasting Couimission. He was frequently heard announcing from 2LO until 192G when he was sent to India to inaugurate the Indian Broadcasting Commission at Calcutta. Under his control radio in Inaia became very popular and reached a high state of efficiency. For the past year or so Captain Wallich has been travelling round the world. It is his intention to write a book on world travel from the point of view of the average traveller. He and Mrs. Wallich leave to-day for Rotorua, where they will epend some six weeks in the district, fishing and sightseeing.
