XMAS FIGURES IN RUSSIA,

MOSCOW, December 29

For the first time under the Soviet regime Christmas street decorations and figures of Santa Claus and the Virgin Mary were sold, by pei-mission, at a special shop to foreigners.

This was a concession to the sentiments of visitors. The establishment was sold out in a few hours.

Government stores were not permit ted to sell such merchandise.
