PRIEST INJURED.

CONDITION SERIOUS.

Suffering from a fracture of the skull, Father J. Doherty, parish priest at Paeroa for the past three years, was brought to Auckland from Waihi Beach and admitted to a private hospital, where he was operated on last evening by Sir Carrick Robertson. His condition this afternoon was reported to be serious.

After bathing at the beach, Father Doherty, accompanied by Father S. Conboy, of Te Aroha, was climbing a bank when he slipped and struck his head on a rock embedded in the soil.
