TROTTING CARNIVAL.

ATTRACTIONS OF EPSOM.

TEN HORSES IN AUCKLAND CUP.

HIGH-CLASS FIELDS ENGAGED.

The Auckland Trotting Club's summer carnival, the most important light-harness turf meeting held during the season in the North Island, will open at Alexandra Park to-morrow and be continued on Friday and Saturday. The Cup fixture is the one attraction which sees assembled all the best of Auckland's pacers and trotters, together with horses from other provinces, rvanne coming along from as far south as Canterbury.

FIELDS REVIEWED.

Appearance of Indianapolis.

The fields for to-morrow are of good size, and include many brilliant horses. The appearance of the much-discussed four-year-old Indianapolis will add considerable interest to the racing, as he will he called upon to meet such proved pacers ae Jewel Pointer, Sir Guy, Auto Machine, Great Parrish, Enawah and others. Olive Nelson, perhaps the beet trotter in the land, will be on hand, and she will provide a treat in straight-out trotting. The course and surroundings are looking •exceptionally well, and it goes without saying that the arrangements will be in the hands of capable officials. Below t is a brief review of the programme:—■ Selby Handicap. Backers will make the firet attack on their pocket wallets when they undertake to find the winner of the Selby Handicap. The field is probably the best to line up in an introductory trot at l£psom, and quite a number have good prospects of winning. Gala Day, Kuini and Otara are the best of the limit lot, and if the two firstnamed do their trotting right the task of those further back will not be easy. Autumn Lu and Golden Eagle, each on 48yds, will have backing, as will also Manna's Son, 72yds. The laetnamed is a very solid trotter. It is a tough proposition to open the meeting, and backers may be inclined to risk a trillc on GALA DAY ' • KUINI ' GOLDEN EAGLE. December Handicap. There will be a big field in the December Handicap, and luck in running may be an important factor. ■ As a rule the odds are in favour of the winner being found among the limit lot, and of those in the front Ringtrue, Kia Kaha, Kewpie's Bond, Jester and Tinokaha are all good sorts. Further back in the handicap Ncllota and; Peter .Junior, 36yds, and Margaret CJienault,. 48yds, j should receive consideration.- The summing up may favour MARGARET CHENAULT RINGTRUE JESTER. The Cup. • The Trotting Cup field has been reviewed so many times that it i<3 unnecessary to go through the horses again. The prospects of Great Parrish, Indianapolis, Pegaway and Sir Guy are mostly , favoured, but the big vote should be for INDIANAPOLIS GREAT PARRISH. Christmas Handicap. Given a firm track Cimarron should be able to lead all the way in the Christmas Handicap, but as he does not appear to be the best of stayers there is just the 'chance he will fail, over the last bit of the journey. He looks a winner, but the race may not be the pood thing for him many believe. Free Logan can go very fast, but in the past has not been good at two miles. There-should .be moneyfor ' - WILLIE DERBY — HOHORO Bracket" ' FREE LOGAN. ■ Grandstand Handicap. This seems to be the hardest problem backers will undertake during the afternoon. There are only eight in the race, but they all appear to have good prospects. Margaret Chenault is giving away a couple of seconds to start, unless she happens tc win the December Handicap earlier in the .day. If started she may prove the beet, but in her absence perhaps the popular vote will favour MARGARET CHENAULT (ii started) ■ INDIAN AUTHOR BINGEN CHIEF: Rowe Cup. Providing she 'trots ' right Xell Vole .should take , the Rowe Cup. Carl Mack. Fairyland, Don Chenault, King's Guard : Moko Girl and J. T. Paul's pair, Moke Bells ancj Bessie Parrish are good sorts, but it is hatd .to go past NELL VOLO DON CHENAULT CARL MACK. St. Helier's Handicap. It is not sl very high-class field in the •St. Helier's Handicap, the fast sprint Wilma Dillon should beat Dan Direct and Our Peter, all three being on the- limit Avernus, 12yds, can go fast and has shown good form in the South; and First Flighi is a fast mare on 24yds. Kewpie's Guy : 24yds, and Sir Guy., 36yds. read the besl of the others. Backers will probably paj attention to '. • ■ AVERNUS—SIR GUY ■Bracket WILMA DILLON KEWPIEs'S GUY. Akarana Handicap. The smart three-year-old Chancelloi will be favourite for the Akarana Handi cap, arid he looks like taking a lot of beat ing. Black Jester, Donum and Mazdatbe last-named will be coupled with Chan cellor—should go a good ten furlongs Jackie Thorpe may be the best of those further back. Big support will be accorde( BLACK JESTER DONUM MAZDA-CHANCELLOR Bracket. THE ACCEPTANCES. \ 12 O—SELBT HANDICAP of 140sovs. Fo trotters. Two miles. Limit 0.4. yds. bin!. Black Native Lt.
