"CUTS" AND RETRENCHMENT.
It is good to read in your paper that the - Harbour Board and some of the local bodies are restoring part of the "cuts." It is good ; to see this happen, and before long it is to be hoped that the Government will also toe - the line. But before restoring these "cute> - wouldn't it be more fair to restore the P 0 ® 1 ' tions to those officers who were retrenched by .<■; the Harbour Board and the Government. , Their "cut" was 100 per cent. After many years to the Government they were dmmissed almost on a moment's notice, and tne majority are now on relief works. Those that still hold positions have got used to the "cuts." Those on relief work still hope the Government will give them their positions . - back. ONE OF THEM. ...
