PLANTING CIRCULAR BEDS.
In marking out curves, a few iron pins and a line with a ring at the end will be found very useful. By inserting a pin in the centre of a bed curves and circles can be accurately marked, also the bed
can be divided by straight lines radiating from the centre a« found necessary. In cases where a shaped edging is desired to a border, the setting out or marking out is considerably simplified if a full-
size wood or cardboard pattern is made. Flower beds of simple design when nicely planted are invariably quite as effective as those of a more elaborate pattern, and as intricate designs are rather difficult
to mark out accurately, a correctly set out simple arrangement is far preferable to an elaborate affair unskilfully executed.
