SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

.At the clubrooms, Y.W.C.A., the Women's Progressive Club met on Thursday, Mrs. Sullivan presiding. Mrs. G. S. Canimell, of St. John Ambulance corps, gave a most helpful and interesting talk 011 first aid, with a demonstration of triangle bandaging, which was greatly appreciated by her audience. The speaker was thanked by the president, and given a hearty vote of thanks from the listeners. Supper was then served by the hostesses, Mesdanies Schofield, Morgans and Donne.

A most successful At Home was held by the Onehunga Croquet Club on Thursday. The weather was perfect, and the lawns were in splendid condition. Afternoon tea was served in the bowlers' pavilion, the tables being beautifully decorated in the club's colours by Mrs. Turnbull and Mrs. Burgess. The president, Mrs. Crawford, presented prizes for progressive croquet. The prizewinners were: Morning session, Mrs. Lowe A, Mrs. Dawson B; hidden number, Mrs. Adams; afternoon session, Mrs Vause A. Mrs. Dawson B; hidden number, Mrs. Montgomerie.

A bridge party was' given by Mrs. Warren Blythe, of Takapuna, at the Hotel MOll Dcsir. Tea was served in the drawing, room, which "had been beautifully arranged for the occasion witli Iceland poppies and sweet peas. Among the players were: Mesdames E. Grimwade, A. Gould, J. Foster, Stanley Smith, J. W. Williamson, A. Wootton, J. King and Miss Berry.

On Wednesday afternoon Miss Rose Kennedy was hostess, at her home in Mount Eden, at a farewell party for Mrs. Jack Brooks and Miss Phyl Martin, of Sydney, who both returned by the Mariposa yesterday. The drawing room and lounge were charmingly decorated in sweet peas and pansies. Miss Kennedy received her guests in brown and white marocain, and the guests of honour wore pink and brown crinkle crepe, and a black and white ensemble respectively. Among those present were: Mesdames Rangi Smith, Ansell, Briggs, Brown.. Millikin, Shirlaw, Parkinson, and Miss Joy Porter.
