OVERSEAS MARKETS.
DAIRY PRODUCE. A FIRMER TONE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports as follows:— Butter, finest 99/, first 95/ to 96/; market firmer in sympathy with Danish advance. Cheese, white 49/ to 50/, coloured 47/ to 48/; market steady. Messrs. A. IT. Turnbull and Co. are iu receipt of a cable from their principals, Messrs. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, 18th instant, reading:—Danish butter, 110/ to 112/; New Zealand, salted, 96/ to 100/: Australian, 97/ to 100/; New Zealand cheese, white, 49/ to 50/; coloured. 47/ to 49/. Markets quiet. Danish improved on account of increased quota Germany. British market quiet. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co. have received the following London cable:—Butter firmer on short spot supplies;. 100/ per cwt. ARGENTINE WHEAT CROP. BUENOS AIRES, October 17. The Argentine Ministry of Agriculture to-day predicted that the maturing Argentine wheat crop would total 7.650,000 metric tons. The wheat acreage is reported to bo 5 per cent under that of 1932, totalling this year 18,700,000 acres. Excepting for unimportant local damage the quality of the grain is reported to be excellent, in spite of the winter drought.
