WHAKATANE.

A party of 12 High School boys, with masters, climbed to the summit of Mount ICdgecmnbe (2930 feet), but as the weather was overcast thev could not see any distance. The weather was sunny when the ascent was begun at S.JO a.m.. but by the time the summit was reached, after an hour and a half, the party found itself completely enshrouded in mist. The boys descended at mid-lay after having only two short and fragmentary glimpses of the outspread country below.
