At the last bend "Pproaehing the landing stage the launch slipped forward against the cab °f the truck. Four hours were spent '» building up the road to enable- the t'uek to proceed. The first attempt to float the launch bv Backing the truck into the lake, failed. Although the stern of the vessel w as afloat, it refused to elide off the truck. When operations were resumed tl] e following morning the services of a towing launch were requisitioned, and when this took up the strain one side °f the cradle broke away, and the Malia slanted over to one side and then rolled into the water, undamaged apart f roin the breaking of a email portion of we false keel.
