PERSONAL.
The Hon. J. A. Hanan is returning by the Limited to Wellington this evening. Dr. W. N. A. Paley left by the Niagara this morning on his return to Fiji. The Hon. C. J. Carrington is leaving for Wellington by the Limited this evening. Captain and Mrs. Montague Polley have returned to Auckland from a tour of the South Island. Sir James Parr, Leader of the Legislative Council, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. The Eev. Clyde L. Carr, M.P. for Timani, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board, is leaving by the Limited this evening to attend the meeting of the Loane Board. Captain J. R. Middleton, R.N., of the Navy Office, Wellington, arrived by the Limited this morning on a periodical visit connected with R.N.V.R. business. Mr. R. B. Smith, general manager for W. D.-and H. O. Wills (N.Z.), Ltd., who returned by the Niagara from Sydney yesterday, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. W. J. Jordan, Mr. J. A. Lee, Mr. W. W. Maesey, Mr. A. S. Richards, Mr. F. W. Schramm and Mr. A. J. Stallworthy, M.P.'s, left for Wellington by the Limited expre&s last evening. Mr. W. Drake, who has been poetmaster at Xewton for the last two and a half years, has been transferred on promotion to be postmaster at Cambridge. He will take up his new duties at the end of the month.
