HIDES, SKINS AND TALLOW.
TO-DAY'S SALE. At to-day's sale of sheepskins and hides there was a full attendance of buyers, representing local tanners and shippers. The sale of hides was dull, but there was no quotable change in values. Business done was at late rates, but :i big percentage of the offering was passed at auction and will be dealt with later.
Following are to-day's quotations, the letter P indicating that the line referred to was passed unsold: —
Sheepskins.—Dry: Kino crossbred, to 7%d per lb; medium crossbred, 594 d; coarse crossbred, sd; half to three-quarter wool, sMid: quarter to half wool. 3%d; quarter wool, 3'/4d; lambs, 6%d; pelts, 3d. Raited: Best, 6/6 to 7/ each; good, 5/6 to 6/; medium, 3/0 to 4/6; lambs, 1/6.
Hides. —Abattoirs: Extra heavy ox, to OVid per lb; heavy, Cd; medium. 6d; light, Gd; extra heavy cow, 4%d (P); heavy, 5%d (P); medium, (P) ; light, sVzd (P); kips, 5d (P); yearlings, VAd (P); best calf, 7V»d (P); good, 6%d (P). Country butchers: Extra heavy ox, to 5%d per lb; heavy, 5%d; medium, 5%d (P); light, 5%d (P); extra heavy cow, 4%d (P); heavy, 4%d (P); medium, 4%d (P); light, 4%d (P); kips, 5%d (P); yearlings, 6%d (P); best calf, 7%d (P); good, 6d (P); inferior and damaged, 4d (P).
Tallow.—Best mixed, 16/6 per cwt; medium, 15/6.
