CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. | : George Walker, of Auckland, was; defeated by Hal Eumberg of America , in a wrestling contest here to-night before a crowded house. , . The decision was on points after each had one fall. Rumberg took a fall in j the fourth round and Walker in the sixth.! Rumberg, with an early lead on points, endured severe punishment in the nnal round. The bout-was very severe and j MAMOS BEATS MEESKE. (Uy Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday, j 1 Tn a wrestling bout in the Town Hall this evening Mamos beat Meeske by two falls to one. The contest was unimpressive. At the climax in the seventh round the pair indulged in fisticuffs. Meeske was knocked down several times with backhanded slaps to the jaw. Helpless and apparently groggy, he was then thrown about the ring with headlocks until Mamos ; brought the exhibition to a close with a | i cross-buttock and press. FINAL AUCKLAND MATCH. The final wrestling match of the Auck- I land season will be staged at the Town j Hall to-morrow night between Harry ' Mamofi. the Greek, and Billy Meeske, of Australia. Meeske does not run to the weight of his opponent, but lie is rugged and versatile, and exploits a number of unusual Japanese holds both for attack j 1 and defence. i ■
