SWIMMING.

PONSONBY AMATEUR CLUB. The annual meeting of (lift Ponsonby Amateur Swimming Club will bo hold this evening. The report states that the past season proved one of the most successful lor many years. Financially and from the viewpoint of active interest the result was highly satisfactory iu spite of the difficult period encountered. The club championships resulted :— Fifty yards, Indies. -Miss M. Leydon ; 50 yards, men, l< , . Smith ; 100 yards, men, E\ Smith. Again the club had an outstanding year in open competition. Four teams were entered in the polo competitions and for the third year in succession the A and B teams were successful in winning their respective championships, while the C and junior teams were runnersup in their respective divisions. Bracketed with the Grammar Old Boys' Club, the club had the distinction of being the initial holders of the Tommy Lowe Memorial Kelay Shield, presented by the North Shore Club for annual competition. Miss M. I.eydon, had a phenomenal season. After winnine the Auckland 440 yards title and, in doing no, smashing a New Zealand record, she annexed both the 2'JO yards and 440 yards titles at the national championships. A. Kiiper again won the 150 yards Auckland backstroke championship and for the third occasion represented Auckland at the national championships. The balancesheet showed a credit balance of £Hi 10/. MATAMATA CLUB. At the fourth annual meeting of the Matamata Swimming Club the statement of dccounts showed that the excess of income over expenditure was £3 16/4. which made a total credit balance of £12 14/10.
