WORLD LABOUR.
Steps for New International
Group.
NEW ZEALAND'S PART.
BANFF (Alberta), August 25,
Steps were taken yesterday to organise a new international Labour group in the countries that have interests in the Pacific area. The initiative in forming the new group was taken by Lord Snell, one of the British delegates to the Conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations, and Mr. Walter Nash, M.P., of New Zealand.
Mr. Nash said an effort should be made to interest Labour leaders in every country that had contacts with the Pacific area, with a view to exchanging information. Valuable work could be done for humanity through such an interchange and the Labour organisations of the world would benefit.
Whether a more formal organisation would be effected later Mr. Nash said he could not state, but an effort would be made in that direction.
The Labour delegates also indicated that the new group would vigorously oppose Bolshevism, Communism and the more rabid forms of modern Socialism. They defined the movement as sane, moderate and constructive Socialism.
