WRESTLING AT SHOW. WOMEN PARTICIPATING? CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. As the' result of discussion by the City Council last evening, regarding the propriety of a certain sideshow tn an annexe of the winter show, in which women wrestlers were said.to be participating, members "of the by-laws committee met the show executive this morning and later, at the request of the Mayor, Mr. D. G. Sullivan, the sideshow was closed down. The 6ideshow may submit an alternative programme. During the discussion one councillor said that the wrestling was' a crude display.
On the other hand, the sideshow organisers say that most of the complaints are based on rumours.
