TRADE WITH CANADA.
Mr. Forbes Wishes Long-Term Agreement. PARLEY IN NEW YORK. (Received 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 14. The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. G. W. Forbes, and the Canadian Minister of Trade and Commerce, Mr. H. H. Stevens, conferred yesterday regarding an extension of the Canada-New Zealand trade treaty.
It is understood that the discussions, which were concluded *for the time being, were most informal.
Mr. Forbes, before leaving en route for Washington, said that New Zealand wished to replace the present temporary trade agreement with a long-term pact, in an effort to increase trade between the two countries.
