CARS AT PUREWA.
The authorities have recently put the drive in the Pnrewa Cemetery into repair and made a good job of it, too, but the inconsiderate motorist will quickly spoil it if so allowed. Notices are placed just inside the entrance gates, stating that this is "God's Acre" and asking for respect for the graves of the dead, \ and stating that the speed limit is twelve miles. On Sunday when passing over the road I noted it was torn about by the traffic. Later at intervals several cars passed me at speeds between 25 and 35 miles per hour and throwing the surface of the road about. This, to my mind, is neither showing respect for the dead or for the road. There is positively no need for such unseemly haste—the time saved can, be barely minute's—and I think public opinion would support the prosecution and punishment of these offenders. CONSTANT VISITOR.
