POTATO SHIPMENTS.

FAIX.TJRE OP THERMOGRAPHS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHDECH, Monday. Owing to the thermographs installed on the Waipiata failing to function properly a hitch has occurred in the experiments with potato shipments between Lyttelton and the North Island, recently carried' out by the Agricultural Department, in co-operation "with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The superintendent of the fields division of the Department of Agriculture, Mr. It. McGillivray, said potatoes were now being loaded in better condition than formerly. The transport trials were started rather late in the season, and before much work could be done it was found that the thermographs were out of order, and nothing further could be done until they were repaired and tested. It was too late in the season for anything further to be accomplished this year, but no doubt further transport trials would be put in hand early in the next shipping year.
